Does Hypoallergenic Mean Allergy Free?

She said " I just bought a new mattress and I was told it was dust mite proof because it was hypoallergenic". That's nice but I would be ticked off at that sales person because they either lied or more likely did not know what they were talking about.

Hypoallergenic means that the item is "unlikely" to cause an allergic reaction. It does not mean it will not cause an allergic reaction. It also does not mean the item is allergy proof or allergy free.

The allergy pillows we sell are made of hypoallergenic materials yet if you are allergic to polyester we would probably recommend you get the down alternative pillow because it has a 100% cotton cover. A brand new mattress will get dust mites in it, even one of the foam ones they sell as dust mite proof. If you look at the labels I'm sure you will see the word "hypoallergenic" somewhere on it.

Hypoallergenic products are a good thing, just make sure you use them with care and keep in mind that even highly allergic people may react to them

Wishing you the best of health
