Why I Love My Miele

Sometimes people ask why we only carry one brand of household vacuum cleaner.  Its the same reason that people who walk in the store and see our vacuum cleaner sitting out will point to it and say "I love my Miele"

While we do handle Nilfisk Industrial vacuums for commercial, industrial and clean room applications, we only carry one vacuum for the home....Miele.

I have often joked that the Miele canister vacuums were designed by a woman that vacuumed her house every day.  While one of the Johnny-come-lately companies brags about their use of the "ball", Miele has used three balls as wheels at the base of their vacuums for years.  This makes the vacuum move easily in any direction.  That is also why you don't have to pull your vacuum along as you clean. It easily glides behind you.

I love how durable Miele vacuum cleaners are.  Miele vacuum cleaners are made of ABS plastic.  That is the same stuff they use to make helmets.  I will never forget the first time I saw our Miele representative do his presentation on the durability of the vacuum by jumping up and down on it.  He was a big guy and that Miele didn't flinch.  The hoses are heavy duty and won't kink or crimp.  My garden hose could learn a lesson here.

From an allergy stand-point, Miele is superior to other vacuums. Miele vacuums are sealed so that the particles don't leak out as you vacuum.  After all, the HEPA filter can't filter particles if they never make it to the filter.  And speaking of sealing, when you change the bag on a Miele canister vacuum the bag seals as you remove it from the vacuum cleaner.  I have never understood the concept of the bag-less "allergy" vacuum.  If you are buying a vacuum because you have allergies, why on earth once you have vacuumed up the particles would you want to expose yourself to them when you empty a bag?  That is like saying, "I don't want to breathe the particles in my carpet so I am going to gather them all together and breathe them in one big cloud".  Sheesh!

Most models have some sort of variable suction.  This means you can use your Miele vacuum cleaner for much more than floors.  You can adjust the suction down to low and clean draperies and curtains without sucking them up.  You can vacuum the interior of your car without pulling the carpet loose from the floorboards.  I also like the models with the telescoping wands and the models that carry the tools on-board.  Speaking of tools, Miele also makes a great set of micro tools.  These allow you to clean very small items like computer keyboards and stereo equipment.

Miele makes vacuum cleaners that last.  I bought my first Miele in 1998.  It was a Medi-Vac, a model no longer made.  It headed off the college when my daughter got her first apartment.  After a two year post-graduation break, she is headed off the graduate school with that same Medi-Vac.  I don't even want to compare the reliability of my Miele vacuum cleaner with my Frigidaire microwave, because I will just get mad at my microwave again.

Yes, I agree....I love my Miele.
