Frigidaire versus Austin Air

Now I'm really mad at my kitchen appliances.  You might remember that in the last few months I ranted about how poorly made my Frigidaire kitchen appliances were made.  Well, they continue to live up to their poor reputation.

This morning my husband asked me if there was a special trick to getting the dishwasher to turn on. WOW! He was actually going to run the dishwasher for me. It doesn't happen very often, that is why he wasn't sure if he was operating it correctly.  I went flying out of the bathroom, through the bedroom and past my Austin Air Healthmate that just sat there quietly running and doing its job and into the kitchen.  After some fiddling with the door and the controls, I declared "Its broken...again".

This is the very same dishwasher that went on the fritz last year at the end of June and had to get a whole new control panel.  So, just to recap, my Frigidaire appliances that I purchased in 2007 have been repaired:

microwave 2 times (or is it three)
oven  1 time (heating element, only the most important part)
dishwasher 2 times

My Austin Air HealthMate HEPA filter in my bedroom was purchased in 1998.  I have replaced the main filter twice.  It has never needed repair.  It has run almost continuously since the first day when it was plugged in.  It has never needed work on the motor or the control panel.  It has never let me down.  It just sits there and does its job so perfectly that you forget it is even there.  That is until my needy, always wanting attention and repairs kitchen appliances break down and I am faced with spending money to keep them going.  It is amazing. The Austin Air HealthMate runs 24/7.  Since my youngest child left home I only run the dishwasher once a week. Yet, it is the Austin Air HealthMate that costs less than the dishwasher that has turned out to be the most reliable appliance in my home.

Its a good thing, because I can wash my dishes by hand (and it looks like I will be doing that tonight since the piece of garbage dishwasher has a weeks work of dishes in it) but I can't remove particles as small as .3 microns from the air myself.  I have to depend on my HealthMate for that.  Good thing I can depend on it to remove dust mite particles, molds and pollens.  Just wish I could get it to wash my dishes.

Til Next Time!
