Best Air Cleaner for Mold - Tiffany's Choice

Mold is never something one wants to deal with and for those highly allergic it can really be detrimental to your health. Mold has a tendency of growing and spreading throughout the home and leaving behind a foul odor. So whenever I get the "what do I do about mold in my house" question I almost always recommend an air cleaner as part of the mold removal process.

I highly recommend the Austin Air Healthmate Plus because it's specifically made for the chemically sensitive. It contains an efficient and effective HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filter that removes particles as small as 0.3 microns along with a carbon blend filter consisting of coconut shells and zeolite along with potassium iodine which specifically gets rid of mold, mildew, fungi, organic compounds and other harmful chemicals. This machine removes all vapors and airborne particles in the air that you can't necessarily get rid of with the sprays and disinfectants being advertised today.

Hi Cheryl...Well, I've read both Michael & Tiffanys' personal suggestions and I'm still wondering which would be best for me. I asked you once before about carpet steamers & was happy with your suggestion. So now, I'm living in the same apartment with all the carpet, I cleaned it myself and I must say I did a pretty good job, cause I feel better. My problem now is I know the kitchen has a mold problem. Landlord has removed a 2 X 3 piece of ceiling drywall directly beneath my kitchen sink. They observed an 8 inch area of mold. I would've thought they would follow thru with removing the bottom of the kitchen cabinet, but they didn't. They really think that small amt of mold is the culprit. I'm tired of calling him & can't afford to move again at this time, so between the 3 of you, could you please help me to decide which air cleaner would fit me effectively & financially...? The mold odor nearly burns my eyes....Thanx for any suggestions you may offer...Pam

Pam: It is a shame that they didn't do a more thorough removal and remediation. I hope that whatever the moisture source (such as a leaky pipe) was, it has been repaired as well.  If you are looking for something to be in the kitchen/living area (I am not sure of your square footage or layout) I would use the Alen T300 if you are on a tight budget.  It will only cost you $299 upfront.  Now, the operating costs over the subsequent years will be considerably higher than with the Austin Air machines, but I get the impression you need a short-term solution. If that is the case, the Alen T300 will get those mold spores out of the air and zap them with a UV light to kill them.  If you could swing the $518 for the Allergy Machine, it would cost less over a 10 to 15 year period, but are you going to be living in a moldy apartment that long?

Hi Mike, thanx for getting back with me. The leak, thankfully, has been repaired. The T300 sounds perfect for my square footage. I hope to be here for only 1-2 yrs. I'm sure I'd use this forever wherever I go. One more question....is a filter included with purchase? Thanx again, Pam

I'm wondering if the message I sent Sat or Sun was submitted....cause I don't see it here...(maybe, it's still being moderated, I'm sure you have some time off) anyway, the T300 sounds perfect. With purchase, is a filter and/or uv light included? Also, is there a money-back guarantee? Appreciate you, Pam

The machine comes with one filter. If you are going to take advantage of the 10% off coupon, might want to go ahead and get a replacement when you get the machine so that you will already have it when you need it in 6 to 9 months.
