Bed Bug Mattress Covers

By now you have all read or heard about bed bugs becoming a real problem in the US. For years people associated bed bugs with cheap hotels and seedy inns. If you sat on the mattress the bugs would get you. Not anymore, bed bugs can be found in some of the finest hotels and nicest homes in the country. We have gotten calls from people who brought them home from their vacation or someone in the family travels a good deal and brought home an infestation. No matter how you got bed bugs, they are hard to get rid of because bed bugs get in your mattress, pillows, couch, dresser or any other place they can hide.

One of the most important prevention / treatment for bed bugs is covering your mattress with special bed bug mattress covers. These covers are made so a bed bug can't chew through the material and get in or out of your mattress. The zippers used in these types of bed bug mattress covers are designed so they can't crawl through them either.

The Allergy Store now carries a cover designed by pest control experts that has been scientifically proven to stop bed bugs from getting in or out of your mattress. They are made from a polyester stretch knit material with urethane membrane. You can find out more information on the special bed bug mattress covers by clicking on the link below.

They provide 100% protection from dust mites and are water-proof as well. Since they are made of 100% polyester knit it is a very soft fabric. There is no crinkling sound when you lay on them. Keep in mind your fitted sheet goes over the mattress cover.

Who would want to spray poison on their mattress and then lay on it? Ewww I like the idea of trapping them in with the covers and letting them starve to death!

The best way is to use zippered mattress covers specifically designed to stop bed bugs. Our bed bug mattress covers were designed with the help of pest control companies. They are made with a 100% stretch knit fabric fused to a membrane. They have a special zipper design with an internal flap.

The other thing is they don't need cost you an arm and a leg. There are some companies that are charging outrageous prices for covers just because of bed bugs.

People are traveling more is one of the main reasons bed bugs are becoming more common. People are bringing them home in their luggage. Bed bugs can get in the luggage while at the hotel or even in the luggage compartment on planes. The other place we have seen a problem is with imported upholstered furniture.

Will a bed bug mattress cover work 100% of the time? I travel a lot and am a little concerned.

100% no, They can't stop bed bugs that are not already in the mattress ... A high quality bed bug mattress cover, those with a membrane, are made to keep existing bed bugs inside the mattress, box springs or pillows. Several companies are saying their non-membrane fabric mattress covers will protect you from bed bugs but we have not seen any test results.

When traveling it is hard to get complete protection from dust mites and bed bugs. In most cases it is not practical to fully encase the bed. When we travel we always take pillow covers for the pillows and in some cases a fitted mattress cover. Just put it right over the bottom sheet.

Not 100% but it does the job

Nothing I have seen so far has been able to prove they work. I've seen them advertised but believe a good cleaning and a mattress cover will take care of most situations. In sever cased you need to call a professional pest control company. You will still want to put bed bug covers on you mattress, pillows and box springs.

      Thanks
