An Allerpet is a Soft Pet – Allerpet C for Cats

Our daughter was hosting guests in our home this past week.

Several of the guests have allergies to cats, and we have several cats.  But, we weren’t concerned because if there is something we know at The Allergy Store, it is how to take care of pet allergies!  It starts with Allerpet C for Cats and a little cleaning.

Cleaning the Bedroom

About 3 days before their arrival, we attacked the guest bedrooms that would be in use. We thoroughly washed all bedding in Allergen Wash, vacuumed the floor with a HEPA filtered Miele vacuum, turned the Austin Air HealthMate on high, and closed the door so no more kitties could visit that room.

Cleaning the Living Areas

We sprayed the upholstered furniture in the family room with ADMS Anti Allergen Spray and then rounded up the kitties one by one and began applying Allerpet C for Cats .  The cats haven’t had an application of Allerpet since the last visit by an allergic guest (that was some time ago) and the sight of the bottle didn’t spook them.

We used the two-person approach, one person holds the kitty still and calm and the other rubs the cat with the Allerpet C for Cats solution saturated cloth.  All went well.

Allerpet C for Cats Leaves Coat Soft and Shiny

Later, my daughter was petting one of the cats and she mentioned how soft its fur felt.  We get so caught up in the anti-allergy properties that we forget that it is a great coat conditioner.

So, allergic guests or not, I see more Allerpet/c in our cats’ future to keep them soft and shiny.

Does Your Pet Have Pet Food Allergies?

Did you ever think some of your pet’s ailments may be related to the food you are feeding them?  Pets have food allergies just like people.  Pet food is big business, in 2010 we spent 18.7 billion dollars to feed our pets.  I didn’t personally spend that entire amount  but it did feel like a lot.  No matter what you spend, your pets symptoms may be a result of pet food allergies

With that much money involved competition is fierce among the various manufacturers of pet food.  So,  you can imagine that quality and good nutrition may not be at the top of the list for some companies.

There are regulations for the production of pet food.

“The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) requires that all animal foods, like human foods, be safe to eat, produced under sanitary conditions, contain no harmful substances, and be truthfully labeled.” Read Regulations

But just like the food we eat, you need to read the labels carefully when you are deciding what you want to get “Miss Kitty” to eat this week.  Make sure you know what “meat-and-bone meal” and “by-products” on the outside of the bag actually mean. We stay away from products with artificial colors or flavors, corn (cheap filler), wheat gluten, meal, byproducts and other cheap fillers.

When times are hard we all try to find ways to cut back on expenses, just don’t do it with the pets. A trip to the vet is not any cheaper that a visit to the doctor.  Any cheap pet food may result in pet food allergies.

Dealing With Cat Allergies

Allergies are the most widespread chronic condition in the world and 4 out of 5 people who are allergic to animals are allergic to cats. Some research shows about a third of those that suffer from cat allergies live with at least one cat.

Now cats are not the only animal that causes allergies. Many people can be allergic to dogs, rabbits, hamsters, mice, gerbils, monkeys, hate cat allergies but love your cathorses and pretty much any other furry animal. Some people even think they are allergic to their fish when in reality they are allergic to the algae growing in the fish tank.

For years the doctor’s first and best solution was to tell the patient to find their furry pet a new home. Today people will make that the last thing they will consider. After all it’s hard to get rid of a family member and our pets are part of the family. People are looking for another solution.

allerpet controls cat allergiesFirst of all let me say, even if you get rid of the cat you will still have cat allergens all over the house. Pet dander is very light and floats around sticking to everything it comes in contact with including the walls, carpet, furniture, drapes, blinds, light fixtures and ac systems. We have had customers with cat allergies who moved into a home that had been pet-free for at least a year and they still had allergic reactions.

Keeping your cat can be done in most cases however for some people with severe allergies this is not an option. The most important thing remove cat allergies with alleroetyou need to do is reduce and eliminate anything that collects the cat’s dander.  We offer a complete guide on How to Deal with Cat Allergies.
